Ribbers

Desperado's BBQ & Rib Co.
2008 will be our 10th year at Ribfest, having won 2nd place sauce in 2004 and 1st place ribs and sauce the previous three years in a row. We participate in 25-30 such events each year, traveling from one end of the country to the other. We are a family based operation, as we have 4 of 5 children who travel and work for us. We offer tender falling off the bone ribs with choice of three sauces from mild to suicide hotter than H. Another item which brings rave reviews from the customers is our melt in your mouth Beef Brisket.
Fast Freddy's Electric BBQ Ribs
Our recipe for great bbq has been hand-crafted by Chef Fred Stevens, and Chef David Miller, CEC. The American Culinary Federation has voted our product 1st Place Chef's Choice and People's Choice year after year. We do not participate in the traveling bbq circuit, so these ribs are only available to the public one week out of the year...so indulge while you can at Ribfest!
Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue and Catering
Sweet Baby Ray burst on the scene at the 1985 Royko Ribfest by capturing 2nd place with the Judges out of a field of 700 entries. Dave Raymond, aka Sweet Baby Ray has parlayed his past experience growing the number one sauce in Chicagoland and the 3rd best selling brand in America into a new business venture, Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Restaurants.
Texas Outlaws BBQ
Texas Outlaws BBQ is the current defending 1st place rib champion having won 1st place for two of the last 5 years. We are also the only team in the world to win the coveted Reno, Nevada's Best in the West first place ribs "3 times" and to have our restaurant featured on the National "Food Network TV" channel. This is our 13th year at Rib Fest and our old fashion approach to BBQ has remained constant, never precooking, always slow cooking using premium meat, spices, sauce and wood. Even when grilling we use lump coal, never gas. We feel our old fashion, labor intensive approach to BBQ has made us a crowd favorite for many years at Rib Fest, but as my grandmother always said, "self brag is half scandal", so we will let you tell us what you think. See you at Rib Fest.
Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que
Realizing one of his life-long dreams, Dave opened his first Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack in Hayward, Wisconsin, on Round Lake. Dave’s new joint, featuring slow-smoked ribs along with Dave’s own secret BBQ sauces, was an instant success. In no time, the restaurant was serving up to 8,000 people a week in a town of only 1,800! Among the many awards and honors that Dave and the company have received, in 1997 Ernst & Young, sponsored by Nasdaq and USA Today, recognized Dave Anderson as Minnesota and Dakota’s Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year.
Aussom Aussie Australian Barbecue Co.
A 15 year veteran of the International BBQ Circuit, Paul "Aussom Aussie" MacKay started competing in BBQ contests in 1988 and after several years he and his father developed their very own traditional Australian fruit based barbecue sauce. Taking on the best Barbeque chefs he came to North America to prove they had a winning formula.

Traditional Australian Barbecue – Fruit based barbecue sauce and we cook with fruit woods (Apple and Cherry)

One of the original vendors in 1988 and we have only missed three years since then. Find our Brick on the riverwalk.
Butch's Smack Your Lips BBQ
Basting mop clenched in one fist, steering wheel in the other, rolling cooking pit rattling behind, Butch Lupinetti is back on the road. His destination could be Chicago, Minneapolis, Cedar Rapids or anyplace in between. But the outcome will never change. Butch will pour sweat for 20 hours a day, standing in a cloud of wood smoke, exquisitely charring tons of pork ribs, beef briskets and chickens. When it’s over he’ll be loaded and rolling again; very likely with a huge trophy and a check.

Butch Lupinetti, owner of Butch’s Blues and BBQ joint from 1970 through 1997, serves real roadhouse hickory flavored barbecue.

We also serve our famous Colorado chopped beef brisket sandwich, which always gets rave reviews from our customers. Our menu also offers a chopped pork BBQ sandwich and sides of cole slaw and our famous "Southwest beans".
Hog Wild Barbeque
Johnson's BBQ
Home of the Thermonuclear Sauce, Johnson’s BBQ is well known, not only for their sauces, but also for their rubs and smoking techniques. While owner Dan Johnson won’t divulge specific information, he does admit that “our great taste is a result of our tender combination of first-class rubs and hickory wood which permeates the meat in a special way.” Johnson’s has over 120 national awards to their credit in the last five years including the “Best Sauce in America” in 2001.
