Phil Vassar to play September 16th with Alexandra Kay Opening

Legendary county music artist Phil Vassar is set to headline Saturday night, September 16, 2023, at Ribfest held at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds in Wheaton, Illinois. Vassar was racking up hits on the radio long before his solo recording career that has seen the release of nine albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Trophies, ACM’s Top New Male Vocalist and sold-out shows across the country. SONGWRITING CAREER Vassar’s songwriting career blossomed in the mid-’90s when he landed a publishing contract with EMI and penned hits for Collin Raye (Little Red Rodeo), Alan Jackson (Right on the Money), Tim McGraw (My Next Thirty Years, For a Little While), Jo Dee Messina (Bye Bye, Alright), and Blackhawk (Postmarked Birmingham). He signed a record deal of his own with Arista in 1998 and was named ASCAP’s Country Songwriter of the Year in 1999 and 2001. She captured early attention with a cover of Dolly Parton’s hit, “Jolene”, that lured over 60 million views on various sites. Country music authority, Pollstar, reported that in 2021 Kay sold out shows in Chicago, Colombia, Dallas, Houston, Grand Rapids, and Sioux City. She hit the road with Tim McGraw on the McGraw Tour 2022. In 2023 Alexandra performed at the C2C 2023 in London, England and headlined her own sold-out show in Manchester. She spent the 2023 summer headlining her Backroad Therapy Tour 2 through Canada and the United States. The Dive Bar Dreamer tour also just wrapped up.
