Hope for Tomorrow Happens Today

Exchange Club of NapervilleThe Exchange Club of Naperville needs your support to help kids and families dealing with domestic abuse, especially through the COVID-19 health crisis.

According to the CDC:

  • About 1 in 7 children experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year (and this is likely an underestimate).
  • Nearly 1 in 5 women and about 1 in 7 men report having severe physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime.
  • Over 43 million women and 38 million men experienced psychological aggression by a partner in their lifetime.

While we are still learning about the impact of COVID-19 on our communities, data is showing an increase in cases of domestic violence and the demand for emergency shelter.

Unprecedented stress and tensions created by the loss of a job, strained finances, grieving the loss of a relative or friend, confined living conditions, and the closure of community organizations and resources for families already in vulnerable conditions, may be more likely to respond to their children’s anxious behaviors or demands in aggressive or abusive ways.

Restrictions set in place to contain the spread of the virus increase the risks associated with domestic violence and leave victims isolated from the people and resources that can help them.

Child abuse and neglect are preventable - the work we are doing today is only possible because of your support.

Donate today to provide community support to those who need it most and help us create safe, stable, nurturing environments for children and families.

The Exchange Club of Naperville is about people helping people in the belief that hope for tomorrow happens today.
